Letting Nature carry you forward…a short story

IMG_4350

Without even trying, her skin began to turn brown from the topical sun.

She didn’t plan for it or sit outside to catch it at it’s highest peak.  It just happened.

Perhaps it was carried across through the Tradewinds every afternoon when she took her swim.  Or maybe it lived in the cells of the waters waiting to caress her.

She would purposely wait until the light of the great sun was resting behind the trees, casting it’s gentle shadow on the water in the 40 ft. swimming pool.

IMG_3483

She was definitely living a life of grace and ease she thought, as she did her laps across the pool.

Finding affirmations of gratitude came easy to her now, as she rested in the confidence that all was well for now with her family.

She wanted to “make hay while the sun was shining” and use this special time to work on herself, to tone her muscles, shed a few pounds, and catch up on some fitness rituals that had been put on the back burner while she strived to make a living.  There just had been no time or energy to work on herself, or so she felt.  Or maybe she had given up at some point, after losing her love in a tragic car accident, being laid off from her dream job, and then being fired from one that she had hated anyway.

Her prayers had made their way to the Great Unknown, and she had been released from her self-made prison of lethargy, discontent, sorrow, rejection, and loss of Spirit.

IMG_3716

She had given in to eating the wrong foods, until one day she had woken up with severe pains in her stomach as though she had been poisoned.

Was it the bread she had so lovingly made from white, bromated flour the day before?

Anyway, that was all behind her now.

She had started to blog about some of her experiences.

Always one who enjoyed new paths of study in the esoteric, she began working with her intuition, strengthening her connection with the Infinite through meditation, visioning, and through writing.

These things came easy to her.

The group of people at work had made  vision boards and posted them in the break room.  So many had pictures of a tropical getaway, and she wondered if staring at these images had prompted her own trip to the islands.

IMG_4184

After 6 months of unemployment, she was requested to come house-sit in Oahu.

Well, how could she say no?

This is where her journey began back to well-ness, weight loss, and getting back in touch with her authentic self.

She had reached retirement age, but not quite ready to retire financially or mentally, she thought this could be a time to reconnect with a part of her who had been lost for a long time.

IMG_3800

For the past year, she had been seeing visions of a male companion.

He was always dressed in white and there was a natural contentment that she felt deep in her soul each time she had a new vision, and usually a bit of surprise that it was “him”.

It was someone that she knew, who seemed the farthest thing away from what she would have expected.  But isn’t that how love is?  And doesn’t it show up when you least expect it?

She returned home to California for six months as the Universe was doing some shuffling of her home circumstances.  ‘She began paring back on her possessions, selling some of her treasured pieces that had been in storage.

Her grandson had decided to return to Southern California, her sister would be moving on, and her son was busy making a new life for  himself.

She was actively pursuing a new position working as an interior designer when the Universe stepped in during a huge rainstorm, bursting a pipe that flooded the store that she would be working in, causing a delay in plans.  The owner called to apologize for the delay, but still no offer of employment.

Then came another offer to come to Oahu.  So, what did she have to lose?  There must be a reason for all of this, she thought. So, she packed her suitcase for one month, with two pair of jeans, some sleeveless shirts, and underwear.  When she was finally approached for employment in May, she told them that she had taken a temporary job, and would come in to see them when she returned.

She decided to stay in Hawaii until August as that was how long she was needed.

Nothing had materialized on the surface of her life yet, in the love department anyway.

Well, maybe a sprinkle of hope.  But nothing tangible.

IMG_4107

All she knew was that she needed to use this special time of benevolence to take care of herself, carry on with her life, create her art, and let her life unfold naturally, as the workings of Nature always knows the best course.

She trusted that things would unfold at the right time, in the right way.

Her guidance was ”  Do nothing. No need to push or strive, but let Nature carry you forward”.  and so she was willing to wait, as there was still more work for her to do in her journey of self-healing.

Full Body Cleanse and Detox

IMG_4333

Where do I start?

To begin a proper detox you must first get in touch with your body.

If you’ve been using your body like a dumping ground, putting a lot of the wrong foods into it, like I was, then it may take some time.

I will not tell you to stop doing things, but will guide you to start doing things that honor and respect your body temple.

If you follow the guidelines, you will find that your desire for certain food and drink will disappear of their own accord.

This is not a strict diet, or a regimented plan of action, but if you use your intuition, move at your own pace, and put forth the effort you will see many profound changes start to happen.

You will regain hope that it is possible to live in a healthy body at any age.

I will take you through seven days to get you started.

Please join me on this journey.

Even though I have only laid out seven days for you, I think you’ll find that this is much easier than it may look at the moment, and will bring much joy to your heart if you choose to continue for a lifetime.

IMG_4317

photo from Kiki K planner

Doing a full-body detox and cleanse takes a bit of planning.

What I offer here for you is the step-by-step plan that was laid out for me when I first arrived in Hawaii, by my guides, or “the higher ups” as I like to call them.  You can read about that here.

I will be doing this with you and recommend doing one of these every six months for the rest of your life for full-body maintenance.

With all of the advertising influences and other daily distractions, it can be easy to “fall back” to doing things the old way.

As you progress, all of your senses will be heightened and you will experience more joy bubbling up from within .

You will feel lighter and your inner light will shine brighter and you will begin to experience the world from a whole new perspective.

******************************************************************************

13 steps to a new body.

  1. Do a mental “scan” of your body.  Get into a quiet place, lying or sitting.  Close your eyes and “scan” your body, getting in touch with any aches or pains.   If you are experiencing any maladies in certain areas, send white healing light to that area and ask your body what it needs.

Depression and fatigue are your body’s way of letting you know it’s running on overload – so are aches and pains.

Write down any thoughts or ideas that come to the surface of your mind.  This is how your body communicates with you.   “Flax seed crackers” came up for me, so I’m working on a recipe that I will be sharing with you.

2.  Prepare your shopping list.

Fresh organic fruits and vegetables of your choice

Lean meats, I only use chicken and occasionally wild caught salmon.

Psyllium fiber – you can “dry” blend it for a finer powder.  It’s gentler on the body. I mix it in my smoothies.

Green powder – for smoothies.

Plain Greek yogurt – full fat ( non-fat dairy usually has added chemicals and sugar)  full fats are more satisfying and will reduce hunger cravings.

For sweet tooth craving – Plain unsweetened apple sauce, Honey or Maple flavored yogurt.

img_4326.jpg

3.  Set up a journal to track yourself.  Now’s a good time to set your intention.  Write out your affirmations.  ( I used some extra pages in my planner to set it up.  If you have a planner, this is what I recommend. )

4.  Weigh in and take your measurements.

5. Before you begin, get in touch with your body.

Get a full body massage.

Go swimming – my fave!  Take a slow walk in Nature.  Walk barefoot on some grass or dirt, and soak in some sunlight.   Do some stretches out doors if possible.

Tune into your beautiful body and thank it for knowing how to take care of you.

IMG_4315

page from kikki k planner

6.  Now’s a good time to assess your beauty routine.

Look for body products and shampoos that don’t have a lot of cancer causing chemicals in them.  What you put “on” your body goes into your blood stream.

I recommend

Dr. Bronner’s castile soap

Shikai hair products

Virgin coconut oil for moisturizer

Boom Cosmetics for the face and body

Get a natural bristle brush for a dry brush massage.

Stop the use of synthetic perfumes.

Now’s a good time to try some essential oils –

You can make our own blends by adding a few drops to rubbing alcohol or vodka.

I also love the orange blossom and rose petal waters from the Mediterranean market.  They are distillations of the blossoms and make a nice base to your essential oils.  ( never use an essential oil directly on the body as it could cause a reaction. )

7.  Consider doing your laundry with Borax and Arm and Hammer washing soda – you can add some castile soap to this for sudsing action ( grate it first)

8.  Eliminate all polyester clothing and bedding from your life.

Polyester has been found through energy testing to lower the auric field.

Switch to natural cottons, linens, and wool and let your aura shine at it’s brightest.

9.  Eliminate all hand sanitizers, harsh cleaning chemicals, and artificial room deodorizers from your home.

10.  Reduce your use of prescription drugs by adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Your body is a natural healer – but too much toxicity in the body prevents it from doing it’s work.

11.  On the second or third day after starting a detox – go in for a colon hydro therapy session or give yourself a few enemas to help your elimination processes evacuate the toxins that your body will be releasing.

If you have had a lifestyle of fast foods, a lot of meat, or processed foods, it would be a good idea to set up a series of regular visits to a colon hydro-therapist.

There could be a build up of plaque along your intestinal walls that’s preventing proper absorption of nutrients and keeping toxins from poor eating habits and prescription drugs in your system.

You will also experience more youthful vitality by keeping your colon clean.

Even coffee can create a tar-like substance in the colon.

12.  Probiotics – naturally fermented kombucha sauerkraut, kefir, yogurt should be taken daily.

It’s so easy to make your own – visit Cultured Food Life to learn more about this.

13.  Find ways to get more exercise and move that body.

Play some music and dance like nobody’s watching

Put on your favorite tunes and walk

I like Leslie Sansone’s walking videos when it’s too hot or cold to go outside.

I always park at the farthest spot when shopping and running errands

Whether you do better in group exercise or on your own, I find yoga to be one of the best and most gentle of ways to really get in touch with my body.

There are classes you can sign up for online for pennies a day.  Daily Om, and anytime yoga for example.

And you just may find it easier to incorporate a meditation practice into your lifestyle which  is essential to living your best life.

Always, always have music that uplifts you, and  helps your spirit soar.

No more criticizing your body wishing you had this or that.

It’s time to love your body, be thankful for the miracle that it is, hold your head high, keep your posture straight, shoulders back ( you can align your posture by standing against a wall), stepping out with grace and ease.  Step into your light body.

IMG_4330

Make a vision board.  Visualize yourself in your perfect body.  Notice how it feels!  Carry that feeling with you the entire day!.

img_4331.jpg

Make your vision board on one of your planner pages.

Make your vision board on one of your planner pages.  Keep it simple.

You are a gift to the Universe, and by showing up as your best self every day, you will see what a gift you are to yourself.

Go at your own pace, Be gentle on yourself.

Drink 6 – 8 glasses of pure water each day.

Following bread crumbs…How did Hansel and Gretel survive?

By practicing the 27 days of Feng Shui challenge here, and 30 days of Gratitude here at the beginning of the year, I think of the story about Hansel and Gretel leaving bread crumbs along their trail in the forest so they could find their way home upon returning.

The Forest

We’ve made the clearing by eliminating all of those things that no longer spark joy.

Hansel and Gretel were left in the forest because their parents couldn’t afford to feed them.  They expected them to become lost.

The forest is your home.  By clearing your clutter you will see your way more clearly.

The bread crumbs

We’ve laid a path of gratitude and love, taking time to appreciate the people, circumstances, and  blessing that are present in our lives.

Hansel and Gretel dropped bread crumbs along the path, thinking this would lead them back home.  Little did they know, that the critters in the forest were hungry and would eat all of the bread crumbs. (The bread crumbs symbolize insincere prayers that are not heart felt. )

The ginger bread house

There may be distractions along the way. ( When Hansel and Gretel saw the house made of ginger bread, their hunger got the best of them, and all they could think of was devouring that house!)

Habits, moods, circumstances can draw us in and cause us to lose our focus.

The Witch

We’ve faced head-on some of the less than pleasant things in our lives and hopefully pushed pass them.

Or maybe they found a way to move on.

It seems that everyone is hungry in this story, even the witch!  She was planning to eat the children for dinner!

Perhaps, their hunger was a Spiritual Hunger, that could only be satisfied by a Connection to Spirit.  ( Everything else can wait, but your search for God cannot wait. Once the connection to your God Source is established, all of your needs are satisfied. )

The Oven

You may have escaped from “the oven” of uncertainty and witnessed a miracle, or been given more clarity.  ( The oven is the Fire of Spirit directing your life and burning up the dross of a matter based existence. )

After the children pushed the witch into the oven, they were free.

Now, it’s time to turn and face the path home and hope the birds haven’t made a meal of your bread crumbs.

Practicing gratitude should be an everyday occurrence by now.

Gratitude promotes prosperity and healing in our lives.

Even if the birds have devoured some of your carefully laid bread crumbs, you can look for other signs to find your way home.

The signs that the Universe brings are sometimes subtle and easy to overlook, to miss all together, or to discount their validity.

And you may not get reminders if you ignore them.

Have you ever regretted not doing something when the signs  were all around you?

I have.

What kinds of signs can you expect?

You could receive a hunch or an idea.

You might see something that reminds you of someone.

Nature often sends signs.

You could get a strong feeling that every thing’s going to be okay.  That could be an Angel whispering in your ear.

You could feel a strong urge to take an action.

You could see a message on a license plate while driving.

Whatever it is, take notice, jot it down in a journal or a notebook, or take action.

Start collecting those bread crumbs or signs that you see along your path.

This is how the Universe guides us.

When we are doing “inner work” there’s a time for sewing the seeds and reaping the harvest.

It takes time.

Sometimes years.

It’s important to do the work of decluttering, training our minds to expect the best, pushing through adversity, and practicing patience through trust and faith.

Watch for the signs and be ready to act when an opportunity presents itself.

************************************************************************

  1. Stay in tip-top form, by staying physically active – exercise and nutrition
  2. Update your wardrobe so you look your best.  Update your home’s “wardrobe” so it lifts your spirit.
  3. Keep mentally sound through meditation, getting plenty of sleep, learning all you can.
  4. Emotionally fit by practicing gratitude, forgiveness, and always focusing on the positive.  No more complaining.
  5. Spiritually Alert – through inner stillness, meditation and prayer, spending time in Nature.
  6. Keep a journal of the signs and symbols that come your way.

Now you are ready for the next great offer that comes your way.

Hansel and Gretel found their way home after discovering the Witch’s treasure.  They returned home to help their parents with their newly found prosperity.

Do you have an idea what the Witch’s treasure might have been?

Please leave your comments below.  I hope you enjoyed this post.  While I was writing it, I actually surprised my self with some of the things that came forward.

I wish you all the best.

The Event: The Wave — Era of Light

Greetings! From heart to heart in this moment we speak, I am KejRaj(KayRy). The reason I say ‘we’ speak is because besides my self choosing to deliver this message, I know I am also being guided by other forces in this journey.

via The Event: The Wave — Era of Light

I’m sharing this today, because I want to urge everyone to take time to meditate and become heart centered.  Today, I had a glimmer of this new “wave” that is coming in.  I felt such tremendous love for everyone, and it’s important that you are ready when this comes.  Mahalo

me, age 3 with my Norwegian grandmother

I woke up this morning thinking about my dad teaching me to ride my new bike when I was five years old.

I think about this often, as it has been one of my life lessons on using sheer determination, working past obstacles, and surviving in a world of pain.

“Don’t be a quitter” was one of his favorite sayings.

My new bike was  second hand with fat tires and a new paint job in green and cream enamel.  It was a small two wheel bike with no training wheels.

I was a healthy 5 year old with freckles on my nose, amber colored hair from being bleached in the sun, and a very strong will and a fighting spirit.

Dad must have thought that I needed some tough lessons to survive this life.

It was 1958, and I’m not sure if training wheels had been invented yet. ( Actually, it looks as though they were invented around 1950, but there was some controversy as to whether they actually helped.) I don’t think my dad would have thought them necessary anyway, as he was pretty much “old school”.

Regardless, I was to learn to peddle, balance, and steer with a single push off.

That’s how I was taught to ride my bike.

I don’t remember how many times I fell and skinned my knees, only to be told to get back on and try again.

As I held back the tears, I would get back on and keep trying until I learned to ride that darned bike.

One of the worst feelings I remember is skinning my knees again after just freshly skinning them on the rough cement pavement.

It burned a lot as the blood ran down my legs and I peddled furiously to learn this new skill.

The physical pain, the emotional pain of failure, all of these things worked against me.

But my dad kept making me get back on my bike until I learned to ride in my first session.

Harsh treatment for a child, you may think, and it was.

But many times in my life, this story has kept me going, and I survived it all .

In Buddhist teachings we are taught to thank our adversaries, forgive them, and understand that they have been placed in our lives to teach us.

Whenever I’ve been confronted with relationship or material loss, abusive relationships, dire uncertainty, or physical challenges, I’ve been able to keep my focus on my goals, keep my nose to the grindstone, and carry on regardless of what circumstances came my way.

It’s important not to let our lives be distracted by these obstacles that arise to throw us off our path.

We can work through the pain, by keeping a clear focus on our values, plans, and dreams.

Try not to give too much importance to the pain, the drama, the naysayers that rear their ugly heads.

Move beyond it.

Stay focused and firm in your authenticity

You can survive anything.

30 Days of Gratitude…day 29 countdown…

IMG_9749

Dearest Guardian Angel,

I pushed the button and started this challenge without knowing where it will go or how I should approach this task – I need your help and advice!  Please tell me what to do?

To truly find gratitude you must first find peace in your heart.

From that place of quietude, the gratitude will begin to rise from within your being.

Just speaking it with no inner commitment, no sincerity, or love, your words will fall flat to the floor and scatter like the dust on a windy day.

When you begin to experience the fullness of what gratitude really is, and practice it daily in every occurrence then you will be walking with the Divine and your life will begin to manifest your true desires.

For gratitude is a great gift, or offering of your love for every thing.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

*********************************************************************************

My Dear friends,

Only those who are serious should take this journey with me for 30 days.

Lay your troubles down, spend at least 15 minutes each day sitting in quiet meditation.  Find the peace that resides in your soul,  then speak the words of gratitude that you feel.

Today, lets start with the things that we take for granted every day.

the food we eat

our families, friends, pets

the home we live in

the water we drink

the air we breath

Thank them silently in your mind or speak it out loud.

This is a good place to start.

Carry this peace with you throughout the day.

Thank you for visiting.  Please sign up so you don’t miss a post.

30 Days of Gratitude…count down from Day 30

When I moved to Sacramento, after living in Long Beach, California  for 25 years, I was offered a place to stay in a small cottage that my cousin owned.

Whenever I offer up this prayer “How can I serve you, Lord?  Show me the way”  something interesting always comes around.

This would be my second home since returning to my home town of Sacramento, California.

I had started a new job and on my days off I was helping my cousin renovate a small duplex on her property that I named ” Zen Cottage”.

IMG_3268

Zen Cottage

My cousin was planning on selling her property and moving further north.

Originally on 10 acres our grandparents had owned it.  My grandfather had built the house while the family of wife and 9 kids lived in tents on the property.  My mother was in high school at the time.

My cousin had purchased the house and 5 acres after my grandmother had passed just before her 90th birthday.

The other 5 acres had been sold in lots and houses had been built within the block for several of the siblings.

Returning H(om)e…

My parents home was just across the field from Grandma’s house, and many times my sisters and I would hike across the field to Grandma’s , exploring, marveling at the wild flowers, birds, bumblebees and butterflies, and occasional jack rabbit or a family of quail.

I especially loved the meadowlark’s song and the random carpet of wild grasses, poppies, and various purple, yellow and white wild flowers.

Life was an adventure in the country and we were so free.

My cousin and her husband had made many improvements to Grandma’s property during their time there.

There were many trees on the property including apple, orange, grapefruit, plum, fig, pomegranate, peach, apricot, and walnut trees that my grandfather had grafted with black and English walnuts.  There were also grape vines, and blackberries, and a thriving vegetable and herb garden.  There were 3 dogs, 3 cats, plus the feral cats out back that my cousin always fed, and the chicken coup with 17 laying hens.

It was a wonderful property and a place where all of our families would gather.

During my time there, which would be only 6 months, my cousin knowing that I was a meditator, asked if I would teach her to meditate.

I told her to come by at 8am every morning and we could meditate before I went to work.

She was very punctual and showed up every morning.

Prior to this, she had been told by her doctor that she had a brain tumor and that they might need to operate.  So, this was a concern that she carried with her day and night.

When someone is just learning to meditate, music is a great catalyst.  I would play Pandora, Heart Meditations music and usually start with a simple prayer, or guide our meditation time by speaking my heart, usually expressing gratitude for everything.

She especially loved the gratitude prayers, so we did those every day.

I felt the two of us meditating together was very powerful – ( When two or more are gathered in My name, there will I be also) Matthew 18:20

Even though she wasn’t a meditator, she is very connected to Nature, having grown up in the country, and she was able to get right into it ( the silence).

After about a month of our daily sessions, she had another visit to the doctor and a brain scan, and was told that her tumor had disappeared.

I can’t really say what caused the tumor to disappear, but I do know that our meditation sessions, and offering up prayers of gratitude must have certainly helped.

IMG_3269

Now, I want to offer this to you.

For 30 days, we will offer up our gratitude prayers, and look for ways to feel more gratitude in our lives.

I hope you will join me on this journey.

Who knows what kind of adventure awaits?

Please leave a comment below, and sign up so you don’t miss a post!

Finding Sacred Space in a troubled world

image

Sacred Space

There’s no doubt in my mind that our world is changing and how our recent election in the U.S. has really stirred-the-pot, shaken people to their core, and hopefully gotten each person to take a look inside and re-visit core values.

I think of all the classes that I took when attending CSU Sacramento, Mass Media and Society is the one that had the most impact.  What I took away from that class gave me direction on how I wanted to live my life.

Over the years since, I have seen how television and the media has changed and how it has changed people.

I imagined that in the 50’s, the powers-that-be got together and had meetings on how to “market” a new set of standards to the American public.

There was a standard put in place, through the media, that women should stay home, kids should eat sugary cereals, and that smoking was a cool thing to do, and we rarely saw people of color on TV.

Fast forward to the present, where we see the impact of the media being sold to our children.  How many children have cell phones, X Boxes, TV’s in their bed rooms?

Mass media, a form of brainwashing, is welcomed in almost every household as a necessity.  We cannot operate without phones, computers, and TVs.

The people in marketing are studying trends so they can make the most profit when a need is trending.

Think about this for a moment:  The more fast food, processed food that the population eats, the sicker the majority becomes which leads to bigger hospitals, more pharmaceuticals needed, and why not focus on the family pet while they’re at it.  Every day, we are being promoted to by billboards, magazine, radio, television, cell phones, pop up ads to use drugs.

Mass media has done it’s job to create fear and mistrust and blind trust in general.

Enough said….

So, with all of this, where do we go to find Sacred Space, where we can be left alone with our own thoughts, our own ideas, our own feelings, and stay in connection with our Divine presence?

Do we have to wait for a vacation to find a spot in Nature where we can reconnect with our essence?

Do we have to wait for a Sunday to attend religious services?

Have we lost touch with what’s real vs. what’s fed to us through the media?

Has the media pre-empted our need for a spiritual connection?

Is it luring us away from our innate truth, our authenticity, our understanding, intuition, and our compassion for people as a whole?

Creating Sacred Space in the home is a critical necessity in this day and time, a Cottage value, if you will, to make a place in your home, in each room even, to establish your family’s values, to anchor the presence of the Divine in your life, to remind you of your core values.

There is a Hawaiian prayer used for healing of everyday life:

Ho’oponopono

It means:

I love you (God or the God in you and me)

I’m sorry ( for at times losing this connection)

Please forgive me (for forgetting that I am Love)

Thankyou ( for blessing me always)

When repeated in the mind’s eye these words can bring profound and miraculous healing.

The words can be internally repeated when we feel fear, when we have issues, to a body part or pain, to our rooms,to our family, friends, and pets, to those who are deceased, to the world, to God.

Each person can take this and embrace it as their responsibility or choose to ignore it, and let the powerful force of the mass media control their thoughts.

The words of the Ho’oponopono prayer are powerful cleansing tools to erase from our consciousness the tapes recorded over our lifetimes that are embedded in our unconscious and affect our lives everyday.

These words can create the sacred space necessary to hold onto the connection with our Creator, to anchor us in the Divine’s embrace.

It is a simple tool, when used with sincerity can cleanse old pains that are keeping us stuck in fear, and show us a way to carry on in the face of difficulties.

It is a tool that can bring such a feeling of love inside that you will feel like you have found Heaven on Earth, as it is life-changing.

It is the safest, most private way to carry your Sacred Space within your heart, where no one can take it away from you, no matter what happens.

I didn’t know where I was going with this post.  At first, I thought I would be talking about mini-altars in the home, but I was led to understand that each person needs to carve a Sacred Space right in their heart by using the healing prayer of Ho’Oponopono.

Like I said, the pot has been stirred, and each person is being called to tunnel into their heart and create your sacred space in the sanctity of your own soul and keep the fire stoked by using the cleaning prayer.

By God’s grace, I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thankyou.

How I use My Zone of Tranquility

via Photo Challenge: Solitude          Continued from “Creating a Zone of Tranquility”

I wanted to sit right down and start writing some thoughts to improve the article, about creating a Zone of Tranquility, when I realized that I needed to take some of my own advice, the advice that this article is all about……. finding a place for Solitude, Creating a Zone of Tranquility, as it’s called in Vastu, which is another term for Indian Feng Shui.

img_2601

But here’s my question;  How often do I use it?  Not often enough, I can tell you that!

And how long does it take to find the clarity I’m talking about?

img_2598

This muddy water has been sitting still for over a week

It’s taken this mud over a week to begin to finally settle, and it has been sitting still 24/7, and it still isn’t clear.

So, how long does it take our minds, when they are being constantly bombarded with new information, and what can we do to take the process of clearing our minds one-step-further?

You may have stopped watching television, or at least, edited what you do allow to enter your mind by being more selective about what you give your attention to.

You may have already carved out a sacred space in your home to use as your place of Solitude, your Zone of Tranquility.

You may even have limited the amount of time you spend on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Etsy, Ebay , Shopify, and email to a reasonable time period.

But how do you spend those 15 minutes per day of ” clearing obscurations-of-the-mind”?

And what if I can’t get into a sitting pretzel position on the floor to meditate?

And what can I use to help me, once I do figure out the correct posture to begin?

This is my Zone

My Dear Cottage Mavens!  I can only share with you my experience, and hope that you will be able to create your “zone” that is unique to you.

I like to sit in a comfortable chair, preferably a wingback because it has good back support.  But any chair will do as long as you can plant your feet firmly on the floor.  I also like a pillow at my back to support my lumbar, and a soft blanket to wrap up in.

This is called the” Westerner’s siitting meditation posture “coined  by Paramahansa Yogananda.  Here are some guidelines:

  1. Sit up straight in a chair
  2. Eyes closed and focused between the eyebrow
  3. Head erect
  4. Feet flat on the floor
  5. Palms resting on the thighs at the juncture of the abdomen

The reason to keep the eyes focused between the eyebrows is because if they are lowered, your thoughts will begin to stray.

Keeping the back straight and head erect, align the spine to receive Divine Light from Source, and to help you stay awake.

I like to hold two palm stones in my hands.  My favorite stones or crystals to hold are Rose Quartz, clear quartz, and amethyst. It’s a personal choice.  You can even go look in your garden fr a couple of smooth rocks that fit comfortably in your palms.

They all have a living vibration, and I’ve noticed a feeling of groundedness, and I go deeper into the silence.

Today, I sat with two rose quartz crystals.

Sitting quietly, calming the mental chatter, I began feeling a wash of chills flowing through my body.

For me, this confirms the presence of my Angels and guides.

This is when I take a moment to let the blessings flow over me, as though my whole body is being cleansed, healed, and burdens are being lifted and transformed.

This is the feeling of pure and total bliss that is waiting for you.

I also take this time to express gratitude and give thanks for the healing vibration that I’ve experienced for body, mind, and soul.

Today I asked my rose quartz if they had a special message to impart.

” They help in reaching a state of calmness and help in connecting us to the heart center”  Rose Quartz

I can affirm this to be true.

When I wear rose quartz as jewelry, I’ve noticed that my connection with others is more intimate, and heart centered.

Learning to meditate

is not easy at first, and it takes years of practice.  Every time you sit, you will have a different experience.

Once learned and established as a way of life, it will change you in miraculous ways.

Running, gardening, knitting, painting are meditative practices, and will raise your vibration, but cannot be compared to having the lasting and profound effects of a sitting meditation practice.

You’ve decluttered your home…now let’s create a “Zone of Tranquility”

imageJanuary…after the holiday decorations come down , we start to consider the whole house “purge”.   Over the course of one year,  I can accumulate so much extra stuff that I just don’t have storage for ,that it can seem like overload. That’s when I know it’s time for the “big clean out”.  Last year, I read Marie Condo’s book about the Magic of tidying up and was inspired to clean the whole house!                                                                                                 This year I stumbled upon “the nester’s” blog and fell in love with her concept of quieting each room by removing everything but the main pieces, cleaning, then putting back into the room only what you truly want in there, or can I say it? What brings you Joy!                    I even blogged about my kitchen and cleaning “mindfully” and discovered that I really didn’t need things that I had once thought were important.                                                         So, let’s get on with a topic that I’ve been wanting to write about for quite a while.  Whether you have already mindfully purged to your hearts content, or are just in the beginning phases ,because there are so many great sales going on, please take this to heart and try it.  It could just change your life.                                                                                             I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “no rest for the wicked”.                                                                        Book of Isaiah. V48:22.                                                      “There is no peace, saith the Lord , unto the wicked.    But the wicked are like the troubled sea,  when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.  There is no peace saith my God to the wicked. “

I conducted a mini-science experiment on my dining room table.  I put some mud and water into a glass mason jar and stirred it up.

This symbolizes our minds.  How when we try to work with a cluttered mind – our vision is not clear, it’s cloudy, as seen in the photo.

Think of a glass of water with mud in it.   img_2496                                                                                              When you stir it up, the water is cloudy, like an agitated mind, that doesn’t make good decisions, and is impatient, and unkind to others, and oneself.       Life doesn’t go so well for the cloudy mind.

this is after sitting still for one week!

The clear water when the mud has settled, can only be achieved by stillness.   When the mind is clear of agitation, our life starts to flow. We recognize the signs, and make clear-headed decisions.  We are more patient, kinder to others, and are more in tune with ourselves. It takes practice, though.

The clear water doesn’t happen over night!

Give yourself permission to carve out a corner in your home that is just for you.    Carving out a place in the home ,a zone of tranquility, is a Cottage Necessity.  It is necessary to our well being to have a place where you can reflect upon your day, read, craft, pray , and meditate, write your goals, and just BE. image                                                                                                                                                                               When we don’t give ourselves the time for rest and reflection,  it’s easy to get information overload, and have too many thoughts, conversations, and shoulds running across our brain.  I’m not sure what Isaiah meant by wicked, except that the restless, or agitated mind is disconnected from Source, and we forget our true essence of our oneness with Source , or God.   Once you’ve carved out your zone of tranquility, or sacred space, make a point to spend at least 15 minutes per day just sitting with yourself, in the silence, listening to soft music, or just the sounds outside your window.         You deserve it!                  Let’s start a movement where we make our homes a haven, a retreat from the world, where we take time to connect with Source , and send out our prayers of love and peace to everyone!     Practice Ho’oponopono….  I love you, I’m sorry, please forgive me, Thankyou.       To Be Continued…….Using my Zone of Tranquility….
