Blogging from the Beach Cottage…

image The other day, I was contemplating how the ants that were in the trash felt when I carried them out to the garbage bins.  When they climbed out with their bounty, they would have the realization that they were not in the same world and feel disoriented.

When I agreed to come to Hawaii for 6 weeks to house sit, little did I know that I might feel the same way.

I purposely decided to travel light, with only a few books, and some writing materials.

I mostly brought clothes that I could work out in.

This was also to be a silent retreat, spent in Nature, where I had pretty much the entire day to do anything I want.

I had literally landed in Paradise.

I left my comforts (coffee maker), my attachments (craft projects), and my security blanket back home.

I’ve had to figure out how to use a new coffee maker, drive a new car, and navigate my way around the island.

It’s not easy changing one’s life style overnight, but I think it makes us   open our minds and use parts of our brain that have become stagnant.  It provides an opportunity to see Life through a New Lense……

To connect with a different part of ourself and to realize that each new adventure brings it’s own rewards.

Now, I just need to learn how to Get into the Flow!

How many of us long for our own comfy cottage in the woods? I know I do! We can make our own comfy cottage, right here, right now, no matter where we live. I'm a mother of two, grandmother of two boys, interior designer who thinks out-of-the-box, up cycler, and interested in just about anything related to living comfortably and finding contentment, connecting with the Great Spirit in the natural world and respect for all beings who walk the earth.
