Simmering some potpourri to welcome Fall….

When Fall arrives, the air takes on a freshness, emitted by the trees that equals no other.   To bring some of Nature’s wonderful fragrance into my home, I like to simmer a little pot of potpourri.  You can do this right in your kitchen with spices that you probably already have in your pantry.

I like to use Bay Laurel, Cinnamon, Cloves, thyme, rosemary, fresh lemon and orange peels, even apple peels are good.  You do not need to use all of them, just a few will do.

I like to slice the orange or lemon peel from the orange, and bend it over the pot so that the aromatic oils infuse into the mixture. ( be careful not to get it in your eyes)

You can simmer it on low with some water.  It will bring a lovely aroma into your home, and everyone will think you made some cookies!   We could even smell it outside, all the way to the curb.

How many of us long for our own comfy cottage in the woods? I know I do! We can make our own comfy cottage, right here, right now, no matter where we live. I'm a mother of two, grandmother of two boys, interior designer who thinks out-of-the-box, up cycler, and interested in just about anything related to living comfortably and finding contentment, connecting with the Great Spirit in the natural world and respect for all beings who walk the earth.
